Roger William Krenik, age 78, of rural Mankato died peacefully Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at his home with his family by his side. Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Roger was born August 15, 1940 in St. Peter to Benjamin J. and Martha (Wieland) Krenik. He graduated from Le Center High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Janet F. Thomas on March 3, 1962 at the Church of the Nativity in Cleveland. Roger enjoyed attending races and camping in his motorhome with family and friends, touring on his Harley motorcycle and Corvette. Roger loved spending time relaxing at his family cabin on Lake Washington, rides on the pontoon, and fishing. Roger also loved attending local auctions and watching the MN Twins and Vikings. Roger enjoyed many family gatherings with his sons and their families and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren growing up. Roger is survived by his wife, Janet; two sons, Tim (Cindy) Krenik of Elysian and Brian (MaryLou) Krenik of Mankato; five grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Kluntz, Amy (Marc) Collins, Andrew (Jennifer) Krenik, Jessica Krenik, and Kole Krenik; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Tom (Shirley) Krenik of Elysian, Wally (Iris) Krenik of Cleveland, Marlin Krenik of St. Peter; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Pat (Harold) Hobday, Robert (Diane Will) Thomas all of St. Peter, LuAnn (Ed) Chestnut of South Carolina; nieces, nephews, and extended family. Roger was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Darlene (Dick) Lodge and Jane Krenik.
