James Joseph Koberoski, age 80, of Mankato, died peacefully on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Mankato, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 18, 2019 at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at the Northview–North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr. in North Mankato, with a prayer service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at the church for one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
James, the son of George and Cecelia (Brutsche) Koberoski, was born on December 30, 1938 in Mankato. Jim married Betty Bach on July 20, 1963 and together lived in California for 13 years. They returned to Minnesota in 1976 and started their own business, Edenvale Nursery. Jim enjoyed using his creative abilities and his love of the great outdoors by changing a 5 acre soybean field into a Garden of Eden. His nursery became a popular destination in the Mankato area. Jim had a strong love of the Lord and lived his life faithfully. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Legion of Mary and Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Koberoski; children, Michael Koberoski, Christopher Koberoski, Katherine (Todd) Bodem, Samuel Koberoski, and Karolyn (Noah) Nelson; grandchildren, Claudia, Henry, Oliver & George Bodem, Lydia Willaert, and Edward Nelson; sister, Georgia (Lowell) Hanson; brother, Dick Koberoski; sisters in law, Judy (Matt) Richardson, Emilie (Tom) Schwen, Bonnie (Gerry) Holmes, Joan (Dick) Stenzel, Sally (Gene) Roesler, Becky Doyle, Philomena (Mark) Kauffmann, and Brenda (Steve) Skramstad; brothers in law, Donnie (Sharon) Bach, Ray Bach, Gary (Julie) Bach, and Paul (Ann) Bach.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Cecelia Bodem; brother, Tom; sister in law, Sheila; and brother in law, Bill Bach.
