Juliette Rose Shamp, 85 of North Mankato, passed away February 2, 2019 at Laurels Edge in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00a.m., Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7p.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., in North Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. The family prefers memorials be given to Holy Rosary Catholic Church or the Loyola SCHOLA Foundation.
Juliette was born December 30, 1933 to Julius and Martha (Phillips) Yokiel in Mankato. She graduated from Loyola High School in 1951. On February 26, 1952, she married Charles Shamp at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. Together they raised 3 children, Steve, Debbie, and Vickey.
Juliette was a loving mother and grandmother. She was excellent at baking, cooking, sewing, and caring for her children and grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoyed playing cards as often as she could and in her early years she was known to be a top singer and homecoming candidate at Loyola High School. She was a lifelong and devout member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She volunteered for many events, including Birth Right. Over the years, Juliette also donated over 15 gallons of blood in which she was very proud.
Juliette is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charlie; children, Steve (Kimberly) Shamp of Mankato, Debbie (Bob) Morreim of Arizona, and Vickey Heelan of North Mankato; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Audrey Shamp of St. Anthony Village.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Jane Ledwein; and brother, Bob Yokiel.
