Elaine Catherine Michels, age 82, of North Mankato, died unexpectedly of a heart attack on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am, Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with visitation starting at 8:30am at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato.
Elaine was born October 25, 1936 in Nicollet to Frank and Rosella Dauffenbach. She was united in marriage to Roger Michels on January 17, 1959. Together they farmed in North Mankato for fifty years. Elaine loved her family and friends dearly. Everyone who met her appreciated her warmth, generosity and kindness. She loved baking, bowling, playing cards, traveling with Roger, and cheering on the Minnesota Twins. Elaine loved entertaining - and always had a pot of coffee and a homemade dessert ready for family or friends who stopped by. She made everyone feel welcome.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roger of North Mankato; children, Steven (Debra) of North Mankato, Nancy (Curt) Madsen of Lakeville, Julie (Paul Cleary) of Fridley, and Larry (Jolene) of Sioux Falls, SD; 12 grandchildren, Jerad, Cherise, and Deven Michels; Breah and Skyler Gappa; Anthony and Tyler Madsen; Catherine and Elizabeth Cleary; Jessica (Kevin) Haiar, Brett and Madison Michels; 5 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Bernice Peterson, Frank Dauffenbach, Judy (Jim) Little, and David (Pat) Dauffenbach.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as siblings Hazel Jones, Jim, Robert and Merle Dauffenbach.
