Velida Carol Lewis, 75, of Mankato, MN died Monday January 14, 2019.  Velida was born on December 23, 1943 to Daisy and Robert Mace in Plattsburg, New York.  As the daughter of a military family, her early life was spent traveling the world and she enjoyed sharing stories of her many experiences.  She spent her adult life in Southern Minnesota near family and her many friends.  

Velida dearly loved her family, her friends and all animals.  She also loved to sing, listen to music, and play bingo.  She brought love and laughter to all those around her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 38 years, Donald, and her beloved sister Margaret Johnson.

Velida is survived by her daughter Penny (Jamie) Juenemann; granddaughters Savannah and Jessie Juenemann; step-daughter Nicole (Paul) Lewis; grandsons Daniel Edwards and Tyler Lewis; brothers Bobby (Linda) Mace, Michael (Sharon) Mace and Mark Mace; nieces Evie Adams, Kim Kalas, Dawn Johnson, Angie Mace and Jessica Mace; nephews Tony Adams and Russell Johnson.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 25, 2019 at St. John the Baptist, Mankato with visitation one hour prior at the church as well. Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery, at a later date. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
