Wayne Joseph Charles Mettler, age 67, of rural Lake Crystal, died Friday January 11, 2019 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Wednesday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Thursday. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Wayne was born March 7, 1951 to Leonard G. and Elaine J. (Dorn) Mettler in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1969. Wayne served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1969-73. He was united in marriage to Linda L. Davis on September 29, 1984 at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Mankato. Wayne was employed with Kato Track and Welding, his business, Mettler’s Farm Rite Welding, Carlson Craft, and Lloyd Lumber. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church and the NRA. He enjoyed fixing and wrenching in his shop, riding his Harley, target shooting, and time with his family.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Linda; four children, Emilee Miller, Jamee Lynn (Wes) Zuffinetti, Mike (Nette) Miller, Danielle (Steve) Wegman; nine grandchildren, Chase, Chaylee, Mylee, Logan, Cole, Jaden, Lane, Blakely, and Sawyer; father, Leonard; four brothers, Dean (Julie), Kim, Todd (Barb), Van (Lori); five sisters, Fay (Jeff) Butson, Dawn Baumberger, Gwen (Tim) Ruch, Lyn (Larry) Storlie, Lola (Mark) McDermott; mother-in-law, Phyllis Davis; brother-in-law, Al (Marge) Davis; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine in 2013; father-in-law, Gene Davis; infant brother, Anthony, brother-in-law, Fred Baumberger, infant nephew, Jackson.
