Jeanette Mary Marka, age 89, of Mankato died Friday, December 14, 2018 at her home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2018 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Friday at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be given to the American Heart Association or Mankato Mayo Hospice.

Jeanette was born February 17, 1929 to William Edward and Marion Katherine (Hotinger) Graves in St. Paul. She moved with her family to Mankato in 1939 attending SS. Peter and Paul grade school and graduating from Good Counsel Academy in 1947. She married Eugene “Tubby” Marka on October 8, 1949 at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Jeanette was employed by Northern State Power, retiring in January of 1988. She was a member of SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church where she was a greeter, the Catholic Daughters of America and the Eagles Club. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, sewing, playing cards, baking, collecting stamps, bowling, and attending her children and grandchildren’s events.

Jeanette is survived by her five children, Sandra (Steven) Eggert, Nora (Gary) Sandvig all of North Mankato, Barbara (Robert) Urhausen of Huntington Beach, CA, Connie (Timothy) Murry of North Mankato, and William Marka of So. St. Paul; 10 grandchildren, Tia (Sean) Whitlock, Brian (Kelli) Sandvig, Scott Sandvig, Eric Urhausen, Nicole (Josh) McNett, Natalie (Ryan) Sawatzky, Justin Ross, Jared Murry, and Jens Murry, William (Cassandra) Marka; 15 great-grandchildren, Amir, Nasir, and Taaj Whitlock, Lydia and Ivy Sandvig, Kelly, Grace, and Josephine McNett, Haley Ross, Ethan, Oliver, and Claire Sawatzky, Willow, Scarlett, and Crew Marka; two sisters, Darla (Jerome) Schroeder and Marilyn Jo Clemens; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Eugene “Tubby” on January 13, 1972; sister, Corinne (Eugene) Biedscheid; brother-in-law, David Clemens.
