Dennis Davis, 75 of Mankato, died Monday, November 19, 2018 at his home following a long battle with blood cancer.

Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Mankato Mortuary. Funeral service will be 11am, Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Mount Olive Lutheran Church or BENCHS.

Dennis was born to Willard and Gladys (Heiser) Davis on August 31, 1943 near Lake Crystal. He began school at Lake Crystal and transferred to Judson Elementary until the beginning of sixth grade when his parents moved to a farm west of North Mankato near Loe’s Market, now Loe’s Oil. He graduated from Mankato High School in 1961 and spent two years studying Electronics at Mankato Vocational School. Dennis attended Mankato State College and graduated with double majors in Mathematics and Physics in 1967. Dennis married Pamela Scheitel on June 10, 1967. He received his Master of Science in Physics in 1973.

He started his work experience at Rosemount Engineering in 1963, then Duke TV, and part-time electronic work for the public works and police department where he serviced electronic devices, wrote bid specifications, and trained officers in the use of radar, sound meters, night scopes, and video cameras. He also worked as a Station Engineer at KEYC TV during 1968. He taught electronics and math at both Mankato West and East High Schools and physics at East High for 20 years. He also taught night classes for EET at Mankato State University for 8 years and statistics at Rasmussen for 4 years. Dennis also worked at Taytronics (later called Creation Technologies) in St. Peter and Micro-Trak in Eagle Lake. Dennis retired at the age of 70.

He was a private pilot and member of Experimental Aircraft Association. He also enjoyed photography, going to concerts, and dining out at local restaurants.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Pam; his son, Brent (Crystal); grandchildren, Neil and Juliana; cousins, Bill Ulrich, Marcella Black, and Ronald Heiser; and his service dog, Emma.
