Ruth E. Schoenrock

Ruth E. Schoenrock age 96 of Mankato died Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday November 20, 2018 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Ruth E. Schoenrock was born February 13, 1922 to Charles C. and Elsie A. (Mattenklodt) Shay in Pine Island, Minnesota. She graduated from Rochester High School and graduated from Mankato State University with a Master Degree in Geography and Art. Ruth was united in marriage to Norbert “Rocky” Schoenrock on May 16, 1953 in Mankato. Ruth taught in the Mankato Public Schools.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Ruth was an artist and enjoyed sculpting and fiber art. She also studied the genealogy of the Schoenrock and Shay family and published their histories.

Ruth is survived by her sister, Lois LaQua of Plainview, MN; sister-in-law, Mildred Broin of Byron; brother-in-law, Maynard Schoenrock of Owatonna, MN; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brothers-in-law, Mary and Rudy Mason and Robert LaQua.
