Arvid Louis Ebeling, age 78, of Eagle Lake, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Eagle Lake Church of Christ. Visitation will be two hours before service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Arvid was born May 23, 1940 to Louis and Minnie (Elsing) Ebeling in Worthington. He graduated from Adrian High School in 1959 and Austin Area Vo-Tech in 1961. He was united in marriage to Judith D. Cragoe on August 26, 1961 in Luverne. Arvid worked for Thorson Sheet Metal in Sioux Falls before moving to Mankato where he worked for Schwickert’s for 18 years. He retired from Mankato State University in 2002 after working for 19 years as a sheet metal engineer. Arvid was a member of the Eagle Lake Church of Christ where he sang in a gospel trio. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers International Assn. Local 10, American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees, Society for Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartet Singing in America, and Experimental Aircraft Assn. Chapter 642, and he was involved with missionary work, especially Good News Productions. He was an airplane enthusiast who had his private pilot’s license and built a J3 Cuby Airplane. He enjoyed camping, singing, woodworking, listening to barbershop, gospel, country music, the Grand Ole Opry, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
Arvid is survived by his wife, Judy; three children, Wayne (Valerie) Ebeling of Shakopee, Joan (Davin) Quiram of Eagle Lake, and Glen (Michelle) Ebeling of Mankato; seven grandchildren, Taryn (Brian) Cherrier, Loren (Rachel) Ebeling, Brooke Quiram, Megan (Kevin) Murphy, Louis Quiram, Alaina Lang, and Madeline Ebeling; great-grandchild, Makenna Murphy; sister, Joyce Burk of Worthington; in-laws, Ken (Jean) Cragoe of Borrago Springs, CA, Karen Buus of Luverne, Jan (Jarnet) Johansen of Hardwick, MaReese Cragoe of Luverne; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Arvid was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law, Bill Burk, Vernon Buus, and Don Cragoe and extended family.
