Shane Larry Anderson, age 47, passed away unexpectedly on October 18, 2018.
Memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Shane was born on April 22, 1971 in Mankato to Wayne and Mavis (Bartsch) Anderson. He attended Immanuel Lutheran grade school and graduated from Mankato East High School in 1989. While in high school, Shane competed in and received numerous awards in regional, state, and international science fairs. He was awarded the prestigious Phillips Award for his patented recumbent bicycle project. Shane earned a bachelor’s and master’s degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Shane and Loralee Mehrman were married on September 11, 1999 and resided in Burnsville. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hiking, canoeing, and fishing. He worked at Glacier, Grand Teton’s, and Crater Lake National Parks. As an adventurous man, he was a team member of the Search and Rescue Crew, Fire Crew, and Trail Crew, often hiking miles and miles working out of the mountainous back country. Shane was happiest while wearing his hiking boots, carrying a backpack, a fishing pole in one hand and a camera in his other hand. Shane loved and cherished his wife, Loralee, who accompanied him on many trips into the wilderness, often portaging a canoe in the Boundary Waters. Shane was blessed with a wonderful group of friends, who spent a lot of time at Sawbill catching fish, hiking the Superior Hiking Trail, and sharing stories around a campfire.
Shane is survived by his wife, Loralee; parents, Wayne and Mavis Anderson; sister, Dana (Drew) DeSantis; mother and father-in-law, Jim and Kathy Mehrman; brothers-in-law, Steve (Staci) Mehrman and Cory Mehrman; nephews, Dante and Devin DeSantis and Chase and Cole Mehrman; Grandma Helen; his beloved pets, Mateo and Gato; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Devina May Anderson and grandparents.
