Dennis Duane Olson, age 70, of North Mankato went home to be with his Father, Friday, October 19, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato.
Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at River Ridge Ev. Free Church, 354 Carol Court, North Mankato. Visitation 4-7 p.m., Tuesday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato.
Dennis was born December 3, 1947 to Oliver and Christine (Aulwes) Olson in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He served his country with the U.S. Navy from 1967-69 during the Vietnam War. Dennis was united in marriage to Carolyn S. Aaseng on November 20, 1971 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Madelia. Dennis worked as an ambulance driver in Rice Lake, WI before moving to Litchfield in 1973 where he worked for Fingerhut. He moved to Mankato in 1976 where he worked for Gustavus Adolphus and Bethany College in food service and later as a painter until he retired. Dennis was a member of the VFW and AA. He enjoyed spending time with the Lord, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family, and his special day brighteners, his grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two daughters, Christine (Steve) Lloyd and Cara Roemhildt Borgmeier all of Mankato; four grandchildren, Davi Flowers, Jordan and Ava Roemhildt, Joseph Borgmeier; honorary daughter, Jeanetta Flowers of Rochester; two siblings, Darlene Limesand of Albert Lea and Diane Peterson of Rochester; three sisters-in-law, Darlene Olson of Albert Lea, Donna Aaseng and Debbie Aaseng both of North Mankato; brother-in-law, Doug (Vicki) Aaseng of Brandon, SD; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Christopher; grandson, Jonathan Borgmeier; son-in-law, Tim Roemhildt; brother, Douglas Olson; two sisters, Dorothy Olson, Donna (Gladen) Trytten; brother-in-law, Vernel Limesand; nephew, Loren Slette; niece, Gayle Trytten.
