Zane K. Watts, 60, passed away suddenly on Monday, October 1, 2018 in Longville, MN.
He is survived by his only son, Brendon Watts of Mankato, MN and Brendon’s mother, Adrienne M. Watts of Broomfield, CO.
The son of Robert Haslip and Kay (Schmidt) Karsten, Zane grew up in Owatonna and was raised by his mother and Richard Watts. While pursuing a degree in mathematics from Mankato State where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1993, he worked for a number of Taylor Corporation companies. Following graduation, he taught high school math and coached tennis in Mapleton and Wells, MN. He retired from teaching in 2017 from ISD 77 Central High School (Mankato). Zane was a man of strong faith and lived a Christian life. He touched the lives of many of his students, family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, particularly the Twins and Vikings. He enjoyed playing tennis, pickleball, and curling. He passed while doing something he loved, playing tennis.
Zane is survived by his son, Brendon; sisters Lori Langsweirdt of Longville and Yvette (Mike) Voss of St. Peter; and brothers, Bruce (Diane) Watts of Owatonna, Alan (Carmen) Watts of Nashville, TN, Bret Haslip of Kasota, Wade Haslip of Andover and Ryan (Andrea) Haslip of Andover, as well as Adrienne Watts of Broomfield, CO;, Sherrie Haslip of St. Peter, Richard (Carol Lynn) Watts of Owatonna, and many nieces and nephews and other extended family.
Zane was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Haslip and Kay (Schmidt) Karsten and brother-in-law, Larry Langsweirdt.
A celebration of Zane’s life will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, MN from 4-7 p.m. Prayer Service will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by visitation.
