Michael Henry Peters, age 77, of Mankato died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Oaklawn Rehabilitation Center, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 19, 2018 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m., Thursday at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato and will continue one hour before service at the church on Friday. Interment will be in Eagle Lake Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Michael was born February 9, 1941 to Victor and Margaret (Rieff) Peters in Mankato. He attended Holy Rosary School in North Mankato and Nicollet Public School. Michael served in the U.S. Army from 1959-61. Mike was united in marriage to Judith L. (Anderson) Hennen on April 20, 1990 in New Ulm. Mike worked for Northstar Concrete, National Poly, and farmed on the family farm before retiring. He enjoyed traveling, especially to Branson and New Orleans, ice fishing, and making wood crafts.
Mike is survived by his wife, Judy of Mankato; four children, Mike (Bev) Peters of Eagle Lake, Jim (Jennifer) Peters of Owatonna, Michelle Johnson of North Mankato, Sherry (Paul) Johnson of Mankato; step-son, Blaine Hennen and special friend, Darcy Rudell of New Ulm; grandchildren, Alicia (Andy) Quaday, Sara Peters (Matt Sultze), Bryce and Mackenzie Peters, Stephanie and Mitchell Johnson, Chase, Jake, and Luke Johnson; step-grandchildren, Jill Hulke, Jennifer (Bryan) George; one great-grandchild and six step great-grandchildren; five siblings, Bill Peters of Mankato, Sue (Jim) Kollman of St. Peter, Mary (Phil) Zins of Golden Valley, Vicky Mohr of Sartell, Julie (Richard) Keller of Savage; nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Ivan and Lorraine (Guhlke) Anderson; nephew, Cory Peters; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Leola and Curtis Anderson.
