Shirley A. Reid

Shirley A. Reid, age 83, of Lake Crystal, died on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Crystal Seasons. 

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 17 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, Vernon Center.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Private family interment will be at the Vernon Center Cemetery.  Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.  Memorials are preferred to Grace United Methodist Church women. 

Shirley was born on November 4, 1934 in Vernon Center to Harley and Valdah (Oachs) Spence.  She graduated from Garden City High School.  On February 10, 1953, Shirley was united in marriage to Earl Reid at Grace United Methodist Church.  Together, Shirley and Earl farmed for many years near Vernon Center.  Shirley’s greatest pride and joys in her life were Earl, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Shirley enjoyed baking, gardening and camping.  She loved fishing trips up north.  Shirley and Earl spent over 30 years wintering in Arizona.  She was very active at Grace United Methodist Church in Vernon Center. 

Shirley is survived by her husband, Earl; five children, Randy (Bonnie) Reid, Roxanne (Peter) Skalicky, Wanda Reid (Jim Weiler), Bruce (Brenda) Reid, and Brian (Linda) Reid; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Grace) Spence and Robert (Carol) Spence; and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
