Dennis was born on July 6, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Melvin and Jean (Jarvis) Secrease. He graduated from Fox High School and went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts degree from Elmhurst College. After serving in the U.S. Army, he went on to earn a Master of Arts degree in Education.

He was called to the ministry, which led him to earn a Master of Divinity degree from the University of Dubuque. This transformed his career in education to a ministry that continued for 35 years, most recently serving at Kasota Presbyterian Church.

He was a teacher of life lessons and a storyteller who imparted wisdom, often with a lighthearted joke. Of all the roles he played, his role of Papa was one that continued to give him great joy and laughter throughout the years.

Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Anita, of North Mankato; children, Ron (Brenda) Guappone of Madison Lake, Julie (Larry) Chapin of the Twin Cities, Gina (Michael Kirkwood) Guappone of Mankato, Laurie (TJ) Palesotti of Mankato, Carrie (Phil) Foster of Carver, MA, Michael (Andrea) Secrease of Midland, MI; grandchildren, Andrew, Matthew, Darren, Adeline, Eliana, Vinny, Tristan, and Tony; and sister, Judy (Charlie) Bach of Quincy, IL.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; and parents, Melvin and Jean.
