Al Mellecker, age 84, died Friday, September 28 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato after a long struggle with heart problems.

Al was born on September 16, 1934 to Tony and Leona Mellecker in Spearville, Kansas. Al served in the Marne Corps from 1954 to 1957. He then worked for Mayrath Industries, Target Lighting, and Service Lamp NJ until retirement.

Al is survived by his wife, MaryAnn; brothers, Dewight of Longmont, CO, Jim of Dodge City, KS; sisters-in-law, Lyn (Joe), Marge (Bill); many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Vonnie, Bill, and Joe; sister-in-law, Judy and niece, Tina.

Al will be remembered on October 6th with a gathering at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. followed by a short Celebration of life service at 11:00 a.m.

A private burial service will take place at Kansas Veteran’s Cemetery at Fort Dodge, Kansas at a future date.
