Jerry Bambery of Mankato, MN, passed away from heart failure on Monday, September 24, 2018, at the age of 76.
Jerry was born October 26, 1941, to Thomas and Dorothy (Kleckner) Bambery in Clouquet, MN. On August 17, 1963, Jerry married the love of his life, Marilu Stucki. Jerry and Marilu were blessed with three daughters.
Jerry began working for McDonald’s at the age of 17 when his family relocated to the Twin Cities. His job at McDonald’s spanned his entire working career. From starting out as a crew person, he advanced through the ranks of management and supervision. He was considered one of the company’s pioneers as part of growing, developing and expanding the Midwest region of McDonald’s.
In 1985, Jerry hung up his corporate hat and put on the hat of McDonald’s Owner Operator when he and Marilu relocated to Mankato. They began with one restaurant (Hwy 169) and six months later, took ownership of a second restaurant (Madison Avenue). Over the years, they continued to expand operations, and in doing so, continued to make a difference in the lives of their countless employees as well as the communities in which they did business.
Throughout his life, Jerry had the opportunity to touch many lives. He was a teacher as well as a lifelong learner. He had an insatiable appetite to keep questioning and challenging himself and those around him to learn more, dream more, and do more. He absolutely believed you must leave this world a better place. He lived his life to give back and make a difference.
He is survived by his wife, Marilu; his daughters, Mary McNulty of Waukesha, WI, Keri (Dan) Solheid of North Mankato, and Colleen (Rick) Van Blarcom of Mankato; as well as his eight incredible grandchildren, Megan, Patrick and Michael Finbar McNulty, Danny and Lindsay Solheid, and Jessi, Ryan and Luke Van Blarcom; his siblings, Mary (Rob) McDonald, Mick Bambery, Fran (Mike) Cobb, Dianna (Bill) Holman, Barb (Denny) Anderson, David Dahlberg, Fran Bambery, and Carol Bambery; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy; his father, Tom; step-mother, Genevieve; brothers, Donny, Jay, and Tom; sisters, Liz and Trish; as well as son-in-law, Barry McNulty.
Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at North Mankato Mortuary, North Mankato. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 10 a.m. with visitation one hour prior at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake, MN.
