Nancy Jensen Allan, age 81, died September 23, 2018 at her home in North Mankato, MN surrounded by family and loved ones. She had a difficult struggle with AML, Acute Myeloid Leukemia, since early spring 2018.
A memorial service will be held at Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato (937 Charles Avenue, Mankato, MN). She will be remembered on Saturday, October 27, 2018 with a gathering beginning at 10:00 am and service at 11:00 am. Following the service a light lunch will be served. A private burial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials should go to The Nancy Allan Memorial Art Fund, Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato or the donor's choice.

Nancy was born in Hartford, CT on June 26, 1937 to Thomas Daniel Jensen and Mae Elizabeth Haslem Jensen. Nancy married David W. Allan in West Hartford, CT on February 16, 1963. She graduated from the University of Hartford (CT) in 1960 with a BFA degree in Art Education and went on to teach at junior and senior high schools in Connecticut, Massachusetts and Minnesota. In the 80’s and 90’s her resumé consulting service helped over 200 clients.
She was a natural mentor, making lifelong friends with many young adults who shared common interests with her. She was an active member of the VINE Memoir group. For over 29 years she was an active member of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato, MN, serving on many committees. Beyond fine arts she was an accomplished graphic designer. Recently, her illustrations graced three popular mystery book covers. She and her husband enjoyed visiting many art museums and history locations in Canada, on the East Coast and throughout the Midwest.
She is survived by her husband, David Winslow Allan, Ph. D. of North Mankato, MN; daughter Elizabeth Rasmussen (Timothy) of Blue Earth, MN; grandsons Gregory and Reid Rasmussen of North Mankato, MN; a son, Douglas Thomas Allan (Witney) of Rosemount, MN; granddaughter Ivy Mae Allan and grandson Sam Frederick Allan. She is also survived by her sister, Barbara Stearns of South Burlington, VT; preceded in death were her parents, her brother Thomas Daniel Jensen, Jr. and a nephew and niece.
It is with deepest gratitude that Nancy’s family thank the Mayo Clinic Hospice Nurses and the people at Interim Healthcare for their dedication, kindness and gentleness during Nancy’s final days.
