Joan Elizabeth Kellen, age 67, of rural North Mankato, died Friday, September 21, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Joan was born October 9, 1950 to Leo and Armella (Disch) Kellen in Mankato, MN. The youngest of 3 children. Joan attended grade school at SS. Peter and Paul parish, high school at Loyola and the College of St. Benedict, St. Joseph, MN. Joan worked as a graphic designer for 15 years for a calendar company in Sleepy Eye, MN and continued as a freelance graphic designer for 7 years in her own business. She married the love of her life, Joseph Postels, on June 26, 2001 and they resided in rural North Mankato. In 2002, Joan switched careers to work for St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato at various positions – stewardship coordinator, pastoral care minister, and administrative assistant – for 15 years.
Joan is survived by her husband, Joseph Postels; two brothers, James (Clarice) Kellen of Murphy, TX and Thomas (Mary) Kellen of Hendersonville, NC; two sisters-in-law, Patricia (David) Dorn and Kay (Larry) Rensink; two nephews; five nieces; several grand nephews and nieces. Joan was preceded in death by her parents and one brother in infancy.
