Kermit H. Wiederhoeft, age 96, of Amboy, died on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at the Mapleton Community Home.
Funeral Service will be held on Monday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Amboy. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Amboy. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
Kermit was born on September 24, 1921 in Pleasant Mound Township, rural Amboy to Wilhelm and Frieda (Schwarz) Wiederhoeft. He served in the United States Navy from 1942-1945. On July 21, 1943, Kermit was united in marriage to Dolores Ziemke at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Vernon Center. Kermit was a lifelong farmer in Amboy. Kermit was a member of the Amboy American Legion Post #276 for over 70 years and served on the honor guard. He was also a member of the Shelby Mutual Insurance Board of Directors, Amboy School Board, Farm Bureau, and a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Kermit and Dolores loved traveling together and dancing. Kermit traveled on the honor flight to Washington D.C.
Kermit is survived by his children, Nancy (Duane) Letcher of Truman, Dale (Vickie) Wiederhoeft of Winnebago, Connie Krusemark of Battle Lake, and Steven Wiederhoeft of Amboy; grandchildren, Brian (Deb) Letcher, Gina (Brad) Fern, Adam (Katie) Wiederhoeft, David (Andrea) Krusemark, and Ann (Troy Lutgen) Glenz; great-grandchildren, Madison and Camryn Letcher, Ryan and Amber Germscheid, Oliver Wiederhoeft, Ellie, Emma, and Sophia Krusemark, Jack Glenz, and Leah Lutgen; and brother, Orin Wiederhoeft. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dolores; brothers, Albert, Kasper, Burton, Billy, and Leo; sisters, Anita Pearce, Irene Block, Lasca Flitter, and Lucy Apitz; son-in-law, Craig Krusemark; grandson-in-law, Ryan Glenz; sisters-in-law, Catherine Wiederhoeft, Enid Wiederhoeft, and Dorothy Wiederhoeft; brothers-in-law, Aaron Pearce, Herman Block, Elfred Flitter, and Darell Apitz.
