Rodney Ivan Groth, age 83 of Mankato passed away Thursday, August 30, 2018 of an aggressive cancer at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Resurrection Lutheran Church 1735 East Main Street in Mankato. Burial Minneopa Cemetery. Visitation 4 – 7 p.m. Tuesday Northview-North Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before services on Wednesday at the Church.

Rodney was born June 5, 1935 to Raynold and Evelyn (Hughes) Groth in Mankato. He was married to Norma (Terry) Davis for 64 years. Rod served his country in the US Navy Seabees during the Korean War, mostly in the Philippians. He worked at Dotson Company in Mankato for 45 years.

Rod was a volunteer firefighter on the South Bend Fire Dept. for 21 years. During Rod and Terry’s married life, they enjoyed extensive camping and traveling throughout the US, Canada, Mexico and Caribbean.

He is survived by his wife Terry; daughters, Susan Jones of North Mankato, Pamela (Ron) Eccles of North Mankato, Joleen (Steve) Mills of TX; ten grandchildren, David (Nicole) Brennan, Cody (Rose Borth) Brennan, Kelly (Jeremy) Hughes, John (Maggie Ritzer) Jones, Matthew Jones, Amanda Eccles, Katrina (Craig McAlpine) Fritz-Mills, Mariah Fritz-Mills, Hannah Mills, Amelia Mills; great grandchildren, Conner Eccles, Kaly Brennan, Finley and Arbor Hughes; two sisters, Gloria Burbie, Marj Ayo; and his cat Molly.

Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathy Brennan; grandson, Jeffrey Eccles; brother; sister, Vivian Oakley.
