James Joseph McArdle
James Joseph McArdle, age 84, of Mankato, died Friday, August 24, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Jim was born July 18, 1934 in Jim Thorpe, PA to Victor and Bertha (Herman) McArdle. He served in the United States Army from October 1961 until being honorably discharged in November 1963. For many years, Jim worked as an insurance salesman for Nationwide Insurance Company in Pennsylvania. He also served as the chief of four fire departments in Jim Thorpe, PA. Later, he owned and operated a commercial cleaning business.
On March 17, 1988, Jim was united in marriage to Darla Kassner in Florida. They later relocated to Mankato and have lived here for over 20 years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Darla McArdle of Mankato; sons, Jim McArdle of Jim Thorpe, PA, Tom McArdle of Lehighton, PA, and Phil (Allison) McArdle of Andreas, PA; daughter, Kim (Bill) Snyder of Lehighton, PA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; brothers, Joe McArdle, Eddie McArdle, Bernie McArdle, and Kenny McArdle, all of Jim Thorpe, PA; and step-son, Scott (Bobbi) Block of Belle Plaine.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents; sister, Kathleen Kurtz; and brother, Hank McArdle.
Graveside service will full military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.
