Karen Kay Ballman, 64, passed away on August 23, 2018 after a courageous battle with cancer.
A visitation and celebration of her life will be held Sunday, August 26, 2018 at Church of Nativity, Cleveland, from 2-5:00pm.
Karen was born on August 31, 1953, attended school in Garden City, MN, and was united in marriage to Gregory Ballman on March 18, 1972. Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, Karen was most proud of the family she created: Kimberly (Peter) McGuire, Sarah (Jason) Rubischko, Adam Ballman, Mary (Joseph) Worrell, Anthony Ballman, and Brian Ballman. Karen loved children and especially treasured her grandchildren: Jillian, Travis, Harlie, Quinn, Collin, Ellen, Kiera, and Frederick.
A woman of boundless energy and a strong sense of duty, she worked tirelessly to provide for and raise her children in a home that always seemed to smell of something sweet and home-baked. Karen and Greg opened Dunn Brothers Coffee in Mankato and enjoyed growing new friendships while providing for the Mankato community. Karen was incredibly creative and artistic, and displayed her talents through cooking, baking, sewing, embroidery, stained glass, and interior design.
With customary bravery and poise, she died in peace on her own terms with family surrounding her. We are grateful to have had the chance to hold her close, tell her how loved she was, and thank her for giving us all such happiness and unwavering love.
The family wishes to thank caregivers Laci Meraz, Jessica Henderson, and Michelle Flaherty, and spiritual counselors Father Chris Shofner and Pastor Nathan Nass, and the many friends who have helped Karen and her family these past months. Karen now is reunited with her beloved son, Adam, dear father, Hayden, cherished aunt, Mildred, sister, Diane and brother,Timothy.
