Mary Jane Wandersee, age 95, of Mankato, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 20, 2018 at Pathstone Living.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 24 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Good Thunder. Visitation will be on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato) and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Good Thunder.
Mary Jane was born on January 1, 1923 in Mankato to Myles and Rose (Lorentz) FitzSimmons. She graduated from Loyola High School in 1940 and was the first homecoming queen at Loyola. Mary Jane worked for the FBI during the war in Washington, D.C. On August 19, 1943, Mary Jane was united in marriage to Robert Wandersee. Together, they owned and operated Wandersee Florist for many years. Mary Jane attended mass daily and often served as a Eucharistic minister. She enjoyed playing bridge, ballroom dancing, and baking. Most of all, Mary Jane loved spending time with family and spending her summers at their cabin on Duck Lake since 1949.
Mary Jane is survived by five sons, Wayne (Carolyn), Steve (Barbara), Jim (Carol), Curt (Leah), and Miles (Mary Kay); three daughters, Judy Jobe, Kay Pikus, and Juleen Aydt; 19 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, Conley Hiller; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1979; granddaughter, Juliah; great-granddaughter, Tatum; two brothers, Robert (Bonnie) FitzSimmons and Mike (Rose) Fitzsimmons; and one sister, Margaret Hiller.
