LaVola Lewis

LaVola Jane Lewis, 86 of Mankato and formerly of Lake Crystal, died August 17, 2018 at Ecumen Pathstone Living.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 North Riverfront Dr., in Mankato. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Cambria Cemetery in Cambria, Minnesota. The family prefers memorials be given to the Alzheimer’s Association.

LaVola was born November 15, 1931 in New Ulm, Minnesota to Earl and Laura (Thomas) Walters. She graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1949. She was united in married to Darrell Lewis in 1953. Together they raised three children, Darla, Cindy, and Doug. LaVola was a member of the Lake Crystal First Presbyterian Church and served many years of service with the Lioness Club in Lake Crystal. She worked as a clerk for Lincoln Township for 30 years and a lunch lady at Lake Crystal High School for 20 years. In her free time, she enjoyed knitting hats and headbands and donating to charities.

LaVola is survived by her children, Darla (John) Marsden of Waconia, Minnesota, Cindy (Keevin) Milbrett of Waseca, and Doug (Donna) Lewis of Lake Crystal; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and brother, Gary (Myrna) Thomas.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Darrell.
