Marilyn Elizabeth Louise Bruns, age 94 died peacefully on August 9, 2018 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday August 15, 2018 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial will be at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in rural Nicollet. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Christ the King Lutheran Church. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Marilyn was born June 30, 1924 to William and Evelyn (Hoge) Liesener in Milwaukee, WI. She grew up in the Milwaukee area. Following school Marilyn was a secretary in Wisconsin before deciding to go to school to become a Lutheran School Teacher. She was united in marriage to Melvin Bruns on June 14, 1958 in Milwaukee, WI. The couple made their home in rural Nicollet on the farm where they raised their family. She was a long time member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Nicollet and most recently belonged to Christ the King in Mankato.

Marilyn enjoyed flowers, gardening, cake decorating, travel, family history. What brought the most joy to Marilyn were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and the Bible.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Stuart (Lucy) Bruns of Nicollet, Barbara (Kenneth) Sorensen of Lake Crystal; four grandchildren, Craig (Heather) Bruns, Blake Bruns, Robby (Logan) Sorensen, Melissa (Grant) Goettl; four great-grandchildren, Aidan, Ethan, Owen and Olivia Bruns; sister, Priscilla Myers of Jacksonville, FL; nieces, nephews; cousins, Nancy Krueger and Larry Belheumer.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, Melvin 2003, and great-grandson, Walker David Goettl.
