Bret Behnke

Bret Shawn Behnke, 56 of Fairmont, passed away August 1, 2018 in Fairmont, Minnesota.

Funeral Service will be held 11 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton. Visitation will take place from 2-4p.m., Sunday August 5, 2018 at Olson Tichenor Funeral Home, 307 Main St NE, in Mapleton. Burial will be at Union Cemetery.

Bret was born November 1, 1961 to Dale and Pamela (LaDuke) Behnke in Mankato. He was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mapleton and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Fairmont.  In 1978, at the age of 16, Bret moved to Fairmont as a resident of REM. He was the longest residing REM resident at the time of his passing.

In his free time, Bret enjoyed bowling, watching movies, listening to music, traveling, family get-togethers, watching the Twins, and many outings with the REM staff.

He is survived by his parents, Pam and Dale; sisters, Kari (Dave) Vortherms and their children, Katie and Megan, Jody (Jason) Meyer, Beth (Jim) VanBrunt, and Tricia (Curt) Pemble and their children, Payton, Chandler, and Jack; and many friends from REM and STEP.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jim; grandparents; and aunts and uncles.
