Our precious Mom, Elizabeth “Betty” Briley, age 86, of Mankato, died very peacefully at home with her family by her side on Wednesday, August 1, 2018.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato, with Father John Kunz officiating. Visitation will be from 9-10:30 am on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Mankato following the church service. A luncheon will be served in the church basement after the burial. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to an organization of the donor’s choice. Mankato Mortuary is assisting Betty’s family with arrangements.
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Briley was born October 28, 1931 in Mankato. She was the daughter of Herman and Elizabeth (Frederick) Muellerleile. Betty attended school and graduated from Mankato High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to Glenn “Bud” Briley on April 22, 1953 in Madison Lake. Betty was a stay-at-home mom raising her 9 children and later worked at the Holiday Inn as a housekeeper. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, visiting people at the nursing homes, playing piano, camping, and was known as “Bingo Betty”. Above all, her beautiful, ever growing family was most important to her.
Betty is survived by her nine children, Gloria (Ron) Enzenauer of Savage, Jerry Briley (Kathy Cooper) of Rosemount, Barb Monson of Apple Valley, Karen (Scott) Austad of Mankato, Pattie Briley of Burnsville, Carol (Mark) Parsley of Minnetonka, Linda (Mike) Chabot of Kasota, Mike Briley of Mankato and Tim Briley (Bruce Oliver) of St. James. Blessed with 34 beautiful grandchildren; 37 darling great-grandchildren with 5 more on the way; and 2 great-great grandchildren. Survived by one loving brother, Fred (Dixie) Muellerleile of Mankato, one beautiful sister, Rita Olsen of Mankato, and a dear brother-in-law, Mike LaFrance of Waterville.
She’s preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud of over 50 years; older brother, Ken Muellerleile; beloved sister, Judie LaFrance; charming brother-in-law, Don Olsen; and 3 precious great-grandchildren.
