Gene Charles Anderson, age 90, of Mankato, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at his home.
Service 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2018 at Mankato Mortuary, 1001 N. Riverfront Drive. Visitation one hour before service. Interment with military honors will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park, Mankato.
Gene was born September 2, 1927 to Harvey W. and Augusta Pauline (Zernechel) Anderson in Mankato. He served his country with the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. Gene was united in marriage to Beverly A. Andengaard on June 22, 1949 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato. Gene worked with his father and brother in the family business, Harvey W. Anderson & Sons Construction and later with his son in BCA Construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching sports, especially the MN Vikings, country western music and working.
Gene is survived by his three children, Craig (Debra) Anderson of Mankato, Kelly (Steve) Hansen of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Tracy Lyons and special friend, Bob Beyer of Mankato; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Amanda (Nick) Anderson and children, Samuel, Nicholas, Rochelle, and Daniel, Ann (Jason) McDonough and children, Anthony, Noah, and Steven, Amy (Christopher) Holabird and children, Jeremiah, Chloe, and Naomi, Heidi Hansen and children, Skylar and Emma, Alyssa (Gerald) Watton and children, Rylan and Sophia, Chase Hansen, Tasha (Tanner) Mace; four siblings, Dorothy Springer of Lakeville, Harvey Anderson Jr. of Eagle Lake, Shirley Blumer of LaHabra, CA, Jim (Kathi) Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Beverly on September 11, 2002; sister-in-law, Loraine Anderson; two brothers-in-law, Fred Springer and Chuck Blumer.
