Daniel Holman, age 71, of North Mankato, passed away on July 21, 2018, from a massive heart attack while leaving Deer Creek Speedway.

Memorial Service with military honors will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Crossview Covenant Church, 2000 Howard Drive West, North Mankato. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Drive, North Mankato, as well as from 1:30 p.m.-2:00 p.m. on Saturday before the service at the church. He will be laid to rest at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

 

Daniel was born on September 7, 1946 in Mason City, Iowa to John and Evelyn Holman. He grew up with two older brothers John and Peter and two younger sisters Cindy and Donna. While he was stationed in Long Beach, CA on the USS Bridget serving in the Navy he met his wife Linda Marie Mallos and they were married on December 12, 1965. He served a total of three tours in Vietnam. Daniel started his family and learned the radiator business throughout his 20's in Mason City, IA. He relocated his family to Mankato, MN in 1984 to start and manage Kato Radiator for Chesley International, which in now Harrison Truck Centers. He moved on to open his own business named Holman's Radiator. His passion throughout his life was auto racing. His Christian faith sustained him and his family throughout the years.

 

Daniel is survived by his wife of 52 years, Linda Marie Holman; children, Nikki Lynn (Wade) Besemer, Angela Marie (Cody) Wood and Carrie Ann Thorson (Adam Leggett); mother, Evelyn Holman; 14 grandchildren, Samantha Besemer, Danielle Genelin, Jordan Besemer, Rachel Bode, Gabrielle Genelin, Nick Bode, Samuel Genelin, Hannah Thorson, Levi Thorson, MaKayla Thorson, Ella Wood, Daniel Bode, Sauner Wood and Benjamin Leggett; siblings, John (Ann) Holman, Cindy (Russ) Baker and Donna (Chris) Perry.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Holman; brother, Peter Holman.
