Dorothy Lora Wickler, a resident of Laurels Edge Assisted Living, passed away on Tuesday afternoon, July 17, 2018 at the age of 94.
Memorial service will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 28, 2018 at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary. Following a reception at Northview, interment will take place at Fairview Memorial Park in Fairmont, MN. Please share a memory of Dorothy with her family at www.mankatomortuary.com.
Dorothy was born on August 7, 1923, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She graduated from Fairmont, MN High School in 1941. On February 1, 1946, Dorothy married Howard Wickler in Fairmont. Together, they served at Red Bird Mission, a United Methodist boarding school in Beverly, Kentucky. When the opportunity to work in the Philippines came, they gladly went to a church-related university in the Philippines. She graduated with a BA degree in Religious Studies and a minor in Library Science from Silliman University in the Philippines.
A key motivation for Dorothy was sharing the Good News of Christ with others and living God’s plan for her life. These interests and His calling continued throughout her life.
Dorothy is survived by her five children, Karen Moore, Bruce Wickler, Diane Lambrecht, Stephen Wickler, and Roger Allen-Wickler. Also surviving are their spouses; eleven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother, Dale (Donna) Smith; and sister-in-law, Marilyn (Arlo) Hunstad.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, in 2016.
