Arnold “Arnie” William Brummund, age 84, died unexpectedly on July 13, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Mankato.

Celebration of Life will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 20, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 1103 North Broad Street, Mankato.  Visitation will take place from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.  Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

Arnie was born June 2, 1934 in Pleasant Mound Township, Blue Earth County to Arthur and Anna (Urban) Brummund.  He was baptized at Antrim Lutheran Church, rural Lewisville.  The family moved to rural St. Clair when Arnie was six years old.  He was confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church, March 21, 1948.  He graduated from St. Clair High School on May 29, 1952.

Arnold married LaDonna Schwantes at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Good Thunder on January 24, 1953. They made their home in the Mankato area. He drove the city bus for several years in Mankato making many friends with his friendly personality. He then worked at Continental Can Co from 1965-1976. He also worked many years for Kato Engineering until retiring in May of 1997. Arnie was an avid fisherman, taking many family members and friends along with him.  Everyone wanted to go fishing with him because he knew how to catch fish, and even when he didn’t, it was fun to spend time with him in his boat, listening to his many stories. He was an entertainer at heart!

Arnie also enjoyed woodworking, listening to music, playing cards, reading, and spending fun times with family and friends.

In 2012 Arnie and Donna moved to Crystal Seasons Assisted Living, where he made more friends.

Arnie is survived by his son, Mark Brummund (girlfriend, Kathy Derner) of Milford, IA; daughters, Joy (Arlen) Maloney of Madelia, MN, Becki (Ronnie) Schmitz of Belle Plaine, MN.  He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Matthew (Christi) Maloney, Bobbi (Jim) Kuball, Cindy (Aaron) Adams-Ellis, Kristina Brummund, Russell (Susan) Maloney, Teresa (Mark) Bechtold, Bridget (Eric) Backman, 15 great-grandchildren; sister, Arvellis Morrow; one niece and two nephews.

Arnie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, LaDonna in 2016; brother, Arlyn Brummund; sister, Alice Olsen; niece, Peggy Broas and great-grandson, Grant Maloney.
