Kathy (Mell) Mellen

Kathy died July 11, 2018, at age 57, following an extended illness.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 16, 2018 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary.  The Rev. Dr. Nancy Carol Stahl, former pastor of Garden City Christian Church will officiate.  The Rev. Deborah Bandel will assist. Visitation for family and friends will begin at 11 am on Monday.  A reception will follow the service.  Burial will be in the Garden City Cemetery.

Katherine May (Mell) Mellen was born August 14, 1960 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.  Kathy was raised in Garden City, MN and attended Garden City Baptist Church.  She later joined Garden City Christian Church. Kathy graduated from Garden City High School and attended Mankato Vocational School, where she was certified as an Auto Mechanic.  Kathy married Gregory Mellen on August 20, 1988.  They had one child, Joshua Scott Mellen, born on September 14, 1990.

Kathy is survived by her husband, Greg; their son, Josh; sister, Roxie Brandts; two brothers, John Mell and Barry Mell; and many other relatives and friends.  Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Carl Mell and Eva Auringer Mell; brother, Donald Mell; and two sisters-in-law, "Snookie" Mell and Mary Mell. 

Kathy will be remembered for her loving heart and giving spirit and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
