Patricia Ann Powers, age 64 of North Mankato, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 5th, 2018.
Funeral Service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, July 13th, 2018 at Christ Chapel on the campus of Gustavus Adolphus College. Visitation will be held Thursday, July 12th, 2018 from 3:00 – 7:00 pm at Northview ~ North Mankato Mortuary and one hour prior to the service Friday. Memorials to the family are preferred. Patricia Ann Rodning was born a twin on December 14, 1953 in St. Peter, MN to Harold and Louise (Bjorklund) Rodning. She was raised in Norseland and graduated from Nicollet High School in 1972. She then attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education with a minor in Art in 1976. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Michael Powers on July 14, 1979.
Patricia was a teacher for the Rosemount School District for three years before moving to the Mankato Public School District for 31 years; serving at Jefferson Elementary, Monroe Elementary and Washington Elementary. While working, she achieved her Masters of Science in education degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato in 1993. She retired in 2010. She was forever a teacher; positive, encouraging and curious.
Above all else, Patty loved spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Throughout her life she was active in various activities including: 4-H, the National Education Association, and teaching Catechism at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Nicollet. Her favorite hobbies included singing, attending plays, playing piano, gardening, reading, and storytelling. She could often be found riding her 4-wheeler around the farm watching and caring for the cows. Patty was a kind and gentle woman who brightened every day.
Patricia is survived by her husband Mike; daughters: Erin (Andrew Brown) Powers with grandson Andrew Brown, Emmy Lou (Kayle) Powers-Dinger with grandson Michael Powers-Dinger, and Karen (Chris) Powers Moret with grandchildren Nealyn and CJ; parents: Harold and Louise Rodning; siblings: David, Steven, twin sister Barbara Endrud, James (Michelle), Susan (John) Franzen, Paul (Gayla) and John (Pat Weiland); brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by Mike’s parents Fred and Jane Powers and brother-in-law Lowell Endrud.
