Ruth Austin Bennett

Ruth Austin Bennett of Mesa, AZ, passed away on July 6, 2018, at the age of 90.

Ruth was a caregiver at the Lake Crystal Clinic until 1973 and enjoyed working with her good friends, Florence Lewis, “Doc Harry” and Dr. Jaspers. Ruth and her husband of 67 years, Robert, farmed west of Lake Crystal before building a house on the east end of Crystal Lake in Lake Crystal, MN. They enjoyed many winters in Arizona and eventually moved to Mesa, AZ in 2009. Robert & Ruth both were active in the Osman Shrine Temple including lots of parades and transporting patients to the Shriner’s Hospital in St. Paul.

Ruth was always the best at remembering birthdays and anniversaries and kept the mailman busy with all the cards she sent to friends and family.

Ruth is survived by her son Mark, of Gold Canyon, AZ, along with his family: Jodi & Kent McDonough and children Mitchell (currently serving in the U.S. Navy)  & Marin of Orange City, IA and Chad & Jasmine Schlichte and daughter, Kylee of San Tan Valley, AZ, daughter Diane Bennett of Mankato, MN and her children: Ryan Nelson of Raleigh, NC and Steve & Elissa Johnson of North Mankato, MN; and son, Al Bennett and wife, Annie of Eagle Lake, MN and their children: Joe Minenko of Minneapolis and Kasha Minenko and her fiancé, Patrick Gallagher of Staten Island, NY.

Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, Luther & Jessie Austin; a sister; and a nephew.

The family would prefer any memorials be directed to the Shriner’s Hospital in St Paul, MN or the Gold Canyon Methodist Church in Gold Canyon, AZ.

A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Al & Annie’s house at 202 Cranberry Court, Eagle Lake, MN on Saturday, July 28th from 1:00-6:00 PM.  Anyone wishing to share fellowship and memories is welcome to attend.
