LuAnn was born on June 19, 1934 in Cokato, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Stockholm Lutheran Church. She graduated from Cokato High School in 1952 and attended the University of Minnesota - St. Paul Campus and received her LPN License.
She married Richard Johnson on June 30, 1956 in Stockholm, Minnesota. They lived in Litchfield, Bemidji, Baudette, Richfield and Burnsville. She started her nursing career at Litchfield Hospital and then moved to Bemidji Hospital. After her children were born she was a stay at home mom.
Volunteering was important to LuAnn whether it was helping a neighbor or serving on a committee. She was a member of U of M Ag School Alumni Association and served on several committees. She and Dick were members of Prince of Peace Church in Burnsville, MN, where she served on several committees and boards including Anna Circle, Altar Guild and Quilting. You would also find her working at the famous Prince of Peace “Mega Sale” and she was a strong advocate for their Out-Post Mission and Marie Sandvik programs.
In 2012 LuAnn moved into Augustana Regents in Burnsville and then in February 2018 moved to New Perspective in Mankato to be more centrally located to her children.
LuAnn had a big heart for her family, neighbors and friends. She loved to entertain year round, not just during the holidays. Their door was always open for a quick visit or weeklong visit. She maintained long-term friendships with former classmates, neighbors and church members and was always there to lend a hand, remember a birthday or to add to anyone’s collections.
LuAnn was one to enjoy life through traveling, garage sales, recycling, Christian music, bingo, watching her children and grandchildren and following all of the Minnesota Sports Teams, especially the Twins and Timberwolves.
