Genevieve M. Thompson

Genevieve M. Thompson, age 95, of Lake Crystal, died on Friday, June 22, 2018 at Oaklawn Health Care Center.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, June 28 at 1:00 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.  Lake Crystal Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to G.R.A.C.E. Thrift Store of Lake Crystal.

Genevieve was born on February 6, 1923 in St. Peter to Charles and Katherine (Monahan) Schmidt.  She graduated from Garden City High School in 1941.  She worked for Minnegasco and Montgomery Ward in Minneapolis.  On June 14, 1948, Genevieve was united in marriage to Harold Thompson at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal.  They lived in St. Peter and then moved to Lake Crystal in 1953.  Harold and Genevieve farmed for many years south of Lake Crystal.  Genevieve was a 4-H leader and was a member of the Holy Family ladies aid.  She enjoyed sewing, baking, canning, and reading. 

Genevieve is survived by two daughters, Jane (Jack) Rupert and Diane (Mark) Gray; grandchildren, Jack Jr. (Stacey) Rupert, Anne (Andy) Mornes, Adam (Erin) Thompson, Katie (Ralph) Fox, Stefanie (Justin) Beilby, and Kyle Gray (Sara Kjos); great-grandchildren, Riley and Ava Rupert, Abigail and Amelia Mornes, Brooke and Miles Beilby, and Nevaeh and Bode Fox; brother, Charles (Jean) Schmidt; many nieces and nephews; and other extended family.  She was preceded in death by her parents; step-mother; husband, Harold in 2000; son, Donald Thompson in 2004; brother, Vernon Schmidt; and sister, Helen Miller.
