Owen Wigley

Owen Wigley, age 70 of Lake Crystal, died Thursday, June 14, 2018 at the University of Minnesota Medical Center, Minneapolis.

Funeral Service 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers, officiating. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before service at the church on Wednesday.  Interment will be in Minneopa Cemetery, rural Mankato.

Owen was born February 28, 1948 to Richard E. and Francys M. (Othoudt) Wigley in Mankato.  He graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1966 and the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis in 1970.

Owen farmed his entire life on the family farm and worked for Minnesota Crop Improvement.  Owen was active with the U of M Alumni Band, playing trumpet at the Minnesota State Fair and at Gopher football games. He enjoyed wintering in Florida, playing golf and tennis, and attending Gopher football and basketball games.

Owen is survived by his brother, Paul Wigley and his wife, Becky of Lakeville; niece, Sarah Wigley of Champaign, IL; two uncles, Edward Wigley of North Mankato and Herb Jones of Lake Crystal; special cousin, Val Wigley of Lake Crystal; many cousins and extended family.

Owen was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vicki.
