Leora Groebner

Leora I. Groebner, age 95, of Mankato, died on Monday, May 21, 2018, at Ecumen Pathstone Crossing in Mankato.

 Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 25, 2018, at 11:00 am at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Mankato, MN, with Rev. Richard Yevchak, IVE  officiating. The visitation will be two hours prior to the Mass at the church. Interment will be at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Mankato. Northview - North Mankato Mortuary is assisting the family with arrangements.

 Leora Irene Seesz was born on March 30, 1923, to John and Lillian (Sander) Seesz in Fairfax, MN. Leora graduated from Fairfax High School in 1941. She attended business-college in Minneapolis, MN, where her fiancée, Willard Andrew Groebner, was attending the University of Minnesota Dental School.

They were united in marriage at St. Olaf’s Catholic Church in Minneapolis, MN, on June 11, 1942. This marriage was blessed with four children.Leora was very proud of each and every one of them.

 Leora worked at Red Owl grocery store in Mankato; F.W. Woolworth in downtown Mankato until it closed; and for Valley News in Mankato until she retired.

 After her retirement, Leora spent countless hours with her great friend, Irma Jacobsen, doing ceramics, macramae, and hours at the Happy Chef East.

 Leora is survived by her sons, Jerry (Marie) of Mankato, David (Kristie Scott-Groebner) of Madison Lake, and Daniel of N. Mankato; daughter-in-law, Janet Groebner of Apple Valley; and sister-in-law,  Joan Seesz of Frederick, MD.

 Leora was preceded in death by her parents; son, Willard (Butch); daughter-in-law, Cathy Groebner; siblings, Donald Seesz and Ruth (Ralph) Foard.
