Doris Juanita Kietzer, age 88, of Vernon Center passed away Friday April 27, 2018 in her home surrounded by family including her husband, 3 children and their spouses, several grandchildren and great grandchildren. She battled cancer at the end of her life and died very peacefully.
Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Willow Creek, 13148 499th Ave, Vernon Center. Visitation will be from 5:30-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary, 2060 Commerce Dr., North Mankato and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Willow Creek North Cemetery.
Doris was born March 1, 1930 in Vernon Center, the daughter of Jacob and Martha (Ganzel) Denn. She was baptized at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Vernon Center. Doris went to school at the Oliver School House in rural Garden City and Graduated from Garden City High School. She married Delphin Kietzer in 1950 and worked at the bank in Truman, Minnesota for a short period. Most of all she was a wonderful homemaker. She was born and raised on a farm and lived on one her entire life. Doris’ passion was gardening and flowers. There was no bigger authority on flowers than Doris. Her garden was the envy of all who visited the farm.
She enjoyed going to her children’s and grandchildren’s events, serving on her Dorcas Committee, Ladies Aid at church in Willow Creek and going for coffee with her husband at her sister Toots’ house. She also loved shopping.
Delphin and Doris were married nearly 68 years. They were blessed with 3 children. Doris was an incredibly loving and caring Wife, Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma always putting her family first.
Doris is survived by her husband, Delphin David Kietzer; children, Jeffrey (Jane) Kietzer of Vernon Center, Julie (Jeff) More of Mapleton, and Jonathan (Cheryl) Kietzer of Mankato; grandchildren, Krista (Joe) Kietzer, Lucas (Sara) Kietzer, Jennifer (Matt) Marzen, Joshua (Julie) More, Justin (Emily Lynn) More, Jessica (Jeremy) Engelen, Jodi More, Tyler (Brooke) Kietzer, Courtney Kietzer, and Samuel Kietzer; great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Jadyn Kietzer, Maddison and Wesley Marzen, Karly and Blake More, Jaxson More, and Abby, Mason, Allie and Brynn Engelen; siblings, Bernice “Toots” Bailey and Richard “Butch” (Barbara) Denn; sisters-in-law, Betty Kietzer and Judy Denn; brother-in-law, Hartwin Kietzer; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Martha Denn; sister, Marion (Darrel “Van”) Van Sickle, brothers, Warren (Sylvia) Denn, and Robert (Esther) Denn; brothers-in-law, Richard “Bailey” Bailey, Willard Kietzer, and John Kietzer; sisters-in-law, Iona Kietzer and Lois Kietzer; and nephews, Steven Denn and Bruce Kietzer.
