Charles “Bud” Henry Barnard, age 85 of Good Thunder, died peacefully on Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System, Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary in North Mankato. Visitation will be held at Northview – North Mankato Mortuary from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Burial will take place at Barnard Valley View Cemetery. Memorials preferred to the Good Thunder Fire Department or Barnard Valley View Cemetery.

Bud was born March 10, 1933 to John and Olwen Barnard in Good Thunder, Minnesota. Bud graduated from Good Thunder High School in 1950. He married his wife Marilyn nee Kilian on November 14, 1959. He was very proud to serve for his country in the United States Army.  Bud was stationed at Fort Leonardwood where he drove jeep for the officers and in Germany.  After returning from the Army he took over the family farm, and farmed with his dad.  He was a bus driver for Schoneck’s from 1960-1980. Bud was an Amboy – Good Thunder school board member from 1976-1984. Bud was the founder and caretaker of the Barnard Valley View Cemetery.  He was a member of Post 616 for 41 years and was also a long time Legion member. Bud had many hobbies that he greatly enjoyed, one of them being the lawn mowing and upkeep of the farm.

Bud is survived by his children, Michael Barnard of Winnebago, Minnesota, Grant (Linda) Barnard of Lake Crystal, Minnesota; grandchildren, Jessen Hill, Sean, Joshua and Tyler Barnard; sister Phyllis Swanson of Minnetonka, Minnesota; in-laws; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn and his parents.
