Eleanor Jean Osdoba

Eleanor “Ellie” Jean Osdoba, age 77, of Mankato, died Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at her home in Mankato.

Memorial Mass and Christian Burial will take place Friday, April 6 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Mankato. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Jerusalem Cemetery in Judson Township. Northview-North Mankato Mortuary is assisting Ellie’s family with arrangements.

Ellie was born February 17, 1941 in Mankato to Wesley and Nellie (Evans) Thomas. After the death of her mother, she was lovingly raised by her Uncle and Aunt, Spencer and Eunice (Evans) Griffiths. She graduated from Mankato High School in 1959 and went on to cosmetology school. Ellie married Louis “Louie” Osdoba on October 18, 1960 in Minnesota Lake. Ellie owned and operated Ellie’s Beauty Shop out of her home in Winnebago. She became a seamstress at Chris’ Tailor Shop and Matt J. Graif Clothing after moving to Mankato in 1983. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Ellie enjoyed crafts, sewing, puzzles, and regular visits to Baker’s Square. She loved spending time with her family, especially at the holidays when they gathered to play cards and games.

Ellie is survived by her husband, Louie; children, Todd (Deb) Osdoba, Becky (Charlie) Lloyd, and Paula (TR) Ressler; grandchildren, Jessica (Jon) Wheelock and Mitchell, Logan, and Carly Lloyd; great-grandson, Zander Wheelock; siblings, Eddie (Ardella) Griffiths, Bev McGuire, Grace (Fritz) Lassas, Gary (Myrna) Thomas, Sharon (Earl) Taylor; and many in-laws, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Archie Griffiths, Ardys Drake, Wilmar Griffiths, Tom Thomas, Roland Thomas, and Harland Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
