Lorraine Emma Date, age 93 of Mankato, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 2, 2018 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation will be held one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Burial at Minneopa Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Lorraine was born October 18, 1924 to Reinhold and Alma (Sternberg) Stradtman in St. James, Minnesota. She graduated from St. James High School in 1942. Lorraine graduated from the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage to William Date on June 21, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in South Branch. Lorraine worked at Railway Motors in Fairmont from 1943- 1946. She enjoyed reading and most of all spending time with her family.

Lorraine is survived by her five children, Gary (Sue) Date of New Ulm, Wayne (Gail) Date, Kevin (Mary) Date, Julie Date all of Mankato, Gail (Anthony) Beer of Le Center; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Eileen) Stradtman of St. James; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by her husband, parents, three sons, Keith, Jeff, and Brian; brother Vernon; sister, Lucille.
