Lyllah Mae passed peacefully into eternal life surrounded by her family on March 11, 2018 at the age of 91.  Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM followed by the Mass of Resurrection on Monday, March 19 at 11:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 623 S. Broad St., Mankato. Burial at Glenwood Cemetery.  

She was born October 15, 1926 to Otto and Rose (Gappa) Hanson. She graduated from Fenton High School.  On February 19, 1941 she married Albert Norland and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Together they raised 4 children. 

Lyllah Mae graduated from Mankato Commercial College graduating as a Legal Secretary and was hired to work at Gus Johnson law firm.  She furthered her education graduating from Mankato State College with degrees in English and Social Studies. 

After substitute teaching in the Mankato Public Schools, she launched a second, longer career in real estate sales with Midwest Realty. She found great satisfaction and joy in assisting a family in finding a home. 

She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority, American Association of University Women and Sons of Norway.  She enjoyed music, entertaining family for all occasions, delighted in tending her gardens and appreciated attending several theater productions. She was an avid reader and welcomed traveling with family.  One of her greatest pleasures in her later life was attending activities and events involving her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.   

Lyllah Mae is survived by daughters, Bonnie Hugeback and Rita (Tom) Browne; sons Roger (Gail) and Richard “Dick” (Kristine) Norland; 9 grandchildren: Kristin Nimsger, Justin Hugeback, Rachael Flaten, Robert Norland, Alissa Lawrence, Daniel Browne, Robert Browne, Matthew Norland and Mark Norland; 16 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Charlene Hanson and many additional relatives. 

Preceded in death by her husband, Albert; infant son, Robert; son-in-law Gary Hugeback; brothers Lawrence, Merrildean and Orville Hanson; sisters, Marcile Hansen and Vilo Haag. 

A special thank you is extended from the family to Oak Terrace and St. Croix Hospice for their kind care. The family prefers memorials to groups that conduct research to fight breast cancer. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
