Julia Jane Maxson age 84 of Mankato, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Cottagewood in Mankato.
Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Mankato. Visitation from 1 – 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church. Burial will be later at Glenwood Cemetery. Mankato Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
Julia Jane Maxson was born May 23, 1933 to Roy and Deana (Hamlet) Newstrom in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from Minneapolis Central High School in 1951. She married Duke Dickson Jr. They had three daughters, Kathy, Linda, and Martha. She later married David Maxson in 1970. Jane worked in the banking industry in Minneapolis and Mankato. She also provided daycare for many families in the Mankato area before her retirement. She loved music and recently sang in the Alzheimer’s Singing Hills Chorus Christmas concert. Jane liked playing cards, especially solitaire, decorating cakes with fresh flowers and her weekly dinner dates with friends.
Jane is survived by her three daughters, Kathy (Dan) Sallstrom, Linda Dickson, Martha (Jerome) Hoppe all of Mankato; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Karen Olson of Savana, GA. Jane is also survived by her Cottagewood family where she received the ultimate in memory care by staff for four years and was administered to in friendship by the families of other residents, as well as her volunteer senior companion and dear friend, Lynette.
Preceded in death by her parents, infant son, David; husband, David Maxon in 1991.
