Gerald Orris Domas

Gerald “Jerry” Domas, age 84, of Eagle Lake, died on Monday, March 5, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester of an aneurysm. 

Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 11 at 2:00 p.m. at Northview-North Mankato Mortuary (2060 Commerce Drive).  Visitation will be on Sunday from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Northview.  Private family burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Madison Lake.

Gerald was born on July 13, 1933 in Mankato to Orris and Marie (Hennager) Domas.  Jerry graduated from Mankato High School in 1951.  Shortly after graduation he joined the United States Navy and served during the Korean War.  On October 25, 1958, Jerry was united in marriage to Jean Frederick at All Saints Catholic Church in Madison Lake.  They raised three sons on a small farm near Eagle Lake and his love of the country life never left him.  Jerry worked for Mankato Corp. for many years and then the Mankato post office as a rural mail carrier before retiring.  After retirement, he spent many hours tinkering on his tractors and cars.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and helping them out in any way possible. 

Jerry is survived by his wife, Jean of Eagle Lake; three sons, Craig (Gwen) of Duluth, Chris of Mankato, and Corey (Abby) of Madison Lake and her children, Matt and Mitch; grandchildren, Erik Domas of Duluth, Aleah Domas of Cloquet, and Devin Domas of Madison Lake; great-granddaughter, Emma Jean Domas of Duluth; brothers, Ron (Jeanne) Domas and Rich (Dee) Domas all of Mankato; brothers-in-law, Wayne (Cathie) Frederick of McMinville, OR and Kevin Frederick of Elysian; sister-in-law, Audrey Frederick; many nieces and nephews; and his cat, Magi.  He was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; mother and father-in-law, Margaret and Louie Frederick; brothers-in-law, George Frederick and Jack (Judy) Frederick; sister-in-law, Laurie Frederick; nephew, Greg Frederick; and aunts and uncles, Bernice and Ray Forst and George and Phyllis Domas.
