Randy Lawerence Dahms, age 65, of Mankato, passed away February 26, 2018 from Lewy Body Dementia.
Memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Messiah Lutheran Church in North Mankato. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service and immediately following the service. Memorials are preferred to Messiah Lutheran Church, V.I.N.E. Respite Care or to donor’s choice. Mankato Mortuary is assisting with arrangements.
Randy was born on November 13, 1952 to Larry and Lorraine (Holtz) Dahms. He graduated from Mankato High School and starting his longtime working career in the trucking industry. Randy was an over-the-road trucker for many years, manager of truck sales software for CWC and heavy truck sales manager for Mankato dealerships. On October 1, 1982, he married Sandra Redalen in Mankato and raised two wonderful and strong children, Andrew and Amanda. Yes, we were the Randy, Sandy, Andy, and Mandy family. Randy was diagnosed at the young age of 55 with Lewy body dementia.
Randy served on council at Messiah Lutheran church and loved playing drums with the worship band. He served on city council in Nicollet and on the Nicollet Fire Department. He was a lifetime member of the Kato Cycle Club and a Mason. He enjoyed playing drums, taking long walks, riding Harleys, trying to play golf, family vacations and time we had together with our family and friends.
Randy is survived by his wife, Sandy, son, Andy and wife, Kyra, daughter, Mandy and husband, Adam Benson, two beautiful grandchildren, Tenley and Hudson Benson all of Mankato; brother, Rodney Dahms and Sandra Jordan of Rapidan; a niece and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ray, and a sister, Debra.
Our family wants to express our gratitude to the Benedictine Living Center and Mayo Hospice for their exceptional care during the past five months of this journey.
