Richard Elmer Mathwig, age 83, of North Mankato, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018.

Visitation will be held at Mankato Mortuary, on Thursday, February 1, 2018 from 9 a.m.-11:00 a.m.  Graveside service will follow at Pilgrims Rest Cemetery, Mankato.

Richard was born on December 29, 1934 in Traverse, MN to Fred and Willamena Mathwig. 

He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling, listening to music and working for Dunlop Meats, Cloverdale, Spee Dee Delivery and Gold Cross Courier Services.  Richard was also a lifelong Minnesota Vikings fan.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Kathy Mathwig and Melaney (Jim) O’Grady; grandson, Justin (Crystal) O’Grady; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Leah and Nora O’Grady as well as his brother, Henry Mathwig.  He is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Thelma (Carlson) Mathwig; parents, Fred and Willamena Mathwig; siblings, Arnold Mathwig, Velma Hoffman, Alice Sunthiemer, Lorretta Enfield and Al Mathwig.
