Louis Harold Schweim, age 91 of Mankato died Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems, Mankato.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 22, 2018 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato. Burial at St. John Ev. Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair. Visitation from 2:30 – 5:30 p.m., Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Hosanna Lutheran Church. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Monday. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to St. John Lutheran Ev. Cemetery perpetual care fund in St. Clair, Hosanna Lutheran Church or the donor’s choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Louis Harold Schweim was born August 15, 1926 to Louis and Dorothea (Geiger) Schweim in Mankato. He served his country in the US Army during World War II in the Pacific Theater achieving the rank of Staff Sargent. Louis was united in marriage to Delores Rahn on September 11, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. The couple made their home in rural Mankato and recently moved to New Perspective in Mankato. Louis was a lifetime farmer in Mankato Township. He also was a gravedigger for many area cemeteries. Louis was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, American Legion Post #617 Eagle Lake where he served as past Commander. He was also elected to serve on the Mankato Township Board for many years.
Louis enjoyed playing cards, going to the (lake home), and spending time with family.
Louis is survived by his wife, Delores of Mankato; six children, Karen (Dick) Krueger of Mankato, Louis K. (Susan) Schweim of Pemberton, Ralph (Bobbie) Schweim of Mapleton, Kathy (Doug) Rotchadl of Mantorville, MN Myron (Liz) Schweim of Mankato, Jeff (Debbie) Schweim of Mankato; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; brother, Ardie (Barbara) Schweim of Janesville; brothers-in-laws, LeRoy (Norma) Rahn of Good Thunder and Don Capp; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters and spouses.
